Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massages are a wonderful complimentary choice of relaxation for expectant mother's aligning with their prenatal care.  Aside from the obvious stress relief attributes to a massage, our prenatal sessions can also offer the client overall wellness for the mother and baby. Our certified prenatal massage therapists here at Springs Chiropractic understand that each client who comes in for treatment have unique individual needs. We respect this quality and make sure that each and every one who enters our doors are individually treated and respectfully taken care of.  Especially with pregnant woman, we specially tailor our massage techniques to help alleviate common pregnancy complaints all while protecting both mother and child in the process.

What to Expect During a Prenatal Massage:

Prenatal massage is unique in its application where the mother and her child to be are taken care of in every shape and form.  During the massage, the expectant mother is carefully supported by cushions and pillows in order to provide superior comfort and protection for both her and the baby. Special precautions are always taken during our Prenatal Massages so no strain or injury occurs during our treatments. Most of these massages are performed on the lower back or pelvic areas, typical problem areas for most mothers-to-be, so our precautions aligned help alleviate extra strain or pressure on the lower back and pelvic areas for optimal relaxing comfort.

Prenatal massage is especially gentle, for obvious reasons, so no deep tissue massage techniques are ever used during our treatments.  Many areas of the body are actually avoided during the massage to protect the mother and child.  As our professional prenatal massage therapists understand the typical aches and pains of pregnancy, extra attention is given to areas of the body that are particularly affected by pregnancy, like the feet and back.

The benefits of prenatal massage are numerous and range anywhere from just a relaxing session to muscular knot treatments. Aside from the gentle kneading that the massage provides, both physically and emotionally to an expectant mother, the psychological benefit itself can be quite therapeutic as well.  Prenatal massages can help reduce expectant mothers’ common aches and annoyances, in addition to stress and anxiety reduction, like swollen ankles lower back pain, leg cramps and headaches.

Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from prenatal massage. If you in a high-risk pregnancy and are interested in a Prenatal Massage here at Springs Chiropractic, please consult with your doctor or midwife first before beginning a massage therapy program with us to ensure health clearance issues.
